Back to School!

I can't believe that it is almost time to start school again!  It was so exciting meeting the Kindergarteners at orientation on Monday.  We have a very exciting year planned ahead of us.  We are going to make new friends and learn a lot of new things. 

I am sure the kindergarteners are dreaming of play time, which we will definitely have; however, I am hoping for a lot of fun learning time as well.  The first few weeks of school will mainly be focused on becoming familiar with classroom routines and rules.  We will talk about why we come to school and how to be a student as well as a friend.  We will discuss feelings and how to solve problems when we feel upset. 

There are some papers that will be posted on the school website in the "backpack" for you to print, complete, and send into school with your child.  Please make sure your child has a folder with his or her name on it that he or she can transport important information back and forth from school.  Please keep a lookout every night for papers that may come home in your child's folder.

Library & Computers - Monday - We will not start going to the library and computer lab until we have other basic routines set in place.  Once we begin going to the library and computer lab we will go every week unless there is another school event taking place that will interfere with the routine.  Once we begin going please remember to send your child's library book back so he or she will be able to take out a new book.  It may be helpful to leave your child's library book in his or her back pack when it is not being used. 

Physical Education - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday - Please make sure your child wears sneakers to school on days we have gym in order to ensure that your child can stay safe and participate in the activities.  Physical Education is an important piece to your child's growth and development, we don't want them to miss out on this exciting opportunity!

Music - Wednesday

Art & Spanish - Friday

Lunch - We will have lunch everyday from 11:15-11:45.  Please make sure your child eats a substantial breakfast so he or she can have a happy experience instead of a hungry one. 

Snack - Since we have a long afternoon, our snack will be toward the end of the day from 1:45-2:00.  If your child would like a drink with his or her snack please send in a water bottle (labeled with his or her name) as juice boxes (juice boxes may be sent for lunch) can make our classroom very sticky.
