Dear Parents and Guardians,
Thank you so much for taking the time to invest in your child's education by coming to the parent teacher conferences. It was so exciting to speak with you about how your children are growing.
Last week we started our small guided reading groups. Your children brought home the books that we read in our small groups. By bringing these books home and reading them, the children will enhance their reading skills greatly. New books will continue to come home each week in your child's folder.
We are learning so many new words as well. If you and your child are interested in playing games at home with our word wall words they are: the, I, is, you, here, look, come, am, & see. We will continue to learn new words and add them to our word wall as we become comfortable with them.
We are also continuing to work on our letter sounds. We should be comfortable with the sounds for the letters: T, M, S, and B. When we come back from Thanksgiving break we will be working on the sound for the letter "C."
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. I look forward to seeing your children on Monday when we get back!
Sincerely,
Miss Knauer

October is Here!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I can not believe how fast September has gone by! The children are enjoying Kindergarten and so am I! I hope they are excited to tell you all about what we are doing in school.
In two more weeks we will have learned how to write all of the upper case and lower case letters of the alphabet! We have also been working on developing pictures in our heads and trying to draw all of the elements from our mind onto paper. Next week we will start labeling our pictures with Kindergarten spelling.
Last week we decorated our classroom with pumpkins and leaves for Fall. Next week the children are going to discover the four seasons and how they change. Please remember...the children do not have school on October 10th. I hope you enjoy the fall weather!
Sincerely,
Miss Knauer

We finished our first week of school!
This first week has gone by fast! I enjoyed my first week of kindergarten and I hope the boys and girls did too! We have been very busy in our classroom this week and have many more exciting things planned for next week and the weeks to come! Just a reminder that back to school night for kindergarten is on Tuesday, September 13th beginning at 6pm. I am excited to meet everyone's families and show you what we have done in our classroom so far.
During the week we go to a special everyday. On Mondays we have Art, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays we have Physical Education and on Fridays we have Music. On Mondays when we have Art, it might be a good idea to have the children dress in clothes that are okay to get dirty. On days when we have Physical Education, it is important that the boys and girls have sneakers to wear in order to stay safe in gym class.
A few other special dates on our calendar is the PTO Book Fair, which our kindergarten class will have a chance to go to on September 16th, and Picture Day is September 27th.
I have many more things to show you about your child's education and hope to meet you at back to school night!
